So many of the questions we ask -when it comes to religion, when it comes to philosophy, when it comes to the world around us- seem to underline a paradigm in our perspective in need of a shift. I compare this to a few centuries ago when men were still convinced the sun rotated around the earth. Stuck in that way of thinking, their entire understanding of the universe was severely flawed. Our paradigm seems to be similar when we approach God. We approach the Almighty as if he revolves around us and not the other way around.
Theocentricity- it’s a word I recently discovered that describes this new paradigm. It simply means that God is the center. You see as we re-center our world around God, the questions and answers change. The problem of evil becomes less about man’s evil and more about his need for God and His Way. The trials and struggles of our lives become less about the pain and more about the results.
We get to step back and look at the universe without the pressure to hold it all together. Our struggle with sin becomes less about our imperfection and more about our need for God.
We need God. We need Him at the center of the universe. We need to remove ourselves from the throne of our hearts and repent as a people of our arrogance and pride.
